FEA of loads on a snowcat grouser

This is a project for my Mechanics of Solids class where I used FEA to simulate the loads on a snowcat grouser to see if failures due to cyclic loading match the failures I have seen most commonly on these parts. I found even though that these blades are built with a factor of safety of 12, the concentrated stress along the front of the blade and the bolt holes can cause a fracture after years of consistent use. This study matched what I have seen in experience and taught me to be careful with my boundary condition definitions to make my studies as accurate as possible.
